500 gm tomatoes 1 tblsp paprika 1 medium green pepper 1 tsp cayenne 500 gm onions 1.25 tblsp prepared english mustard 500 gm apples 1/2 tsp mixed spice 3 cloves garlic 1 tin tomato paste 1.5 cups sugar 1.25 tblsp coarse salt
Peel the tomatoes and cut them into chunks. Remove the seeds from the pepper and chop with the onions, apples and garlic.
Put the tomatoes, pepper, onions, apples and garlic into a saucepan with the vinegar. Simmer for about 30 minutes or until thick. Stir in the remaining ingredients and boil for three minutes, stirring constantly.
Pour into warm sterilised jars and cover with two layers of greaseproof paper and lid to seal. Keep for a couple of days before using.
